Coldest End of July on Record

The final nine days of July have gone down in the record books as the coldest in Chicago, according to Chicago meteorologist Tom Skilling's Weather Center blog.

Wednesday — the final day of July — marked the ninth day of below normal temperatures in Chicago as temperatures reached a high of 74 degrees, which is a typical high temperature for May, according to the blog. 

The final nine days of July were, on average, eight degrees below normal, according to the blog. 

August will kick off with temps in the upper 70s with a high of 79 degrees in the forecast for Thursday and a high of 78 degrees in the forecast for Friday. Temps are expected to stay in the forecast through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
