Algonquin Library to Close for Construction Project

Both library branches will also be closed on Sunday and Monday for the Labor Day holiday weekend.

The Algonquin Public Library branch at 2600 Harnish Drive in Algonquin will be closed from Tuesday, Sept. 3, through Thursday, Sept. 5 for an ongoing construction project.

In addition, both library branches on Harnish and at 115 Eastgate Drive will be closed Sunday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 2 as part of the Labor Day holiday weekend, according to the Algonquin Public Library Facebook page.

The main library branch will re-open on Friday, Sept. 6 and will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Eastgate branch will re-open on Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will be open Wednesday and Thursday as well from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to the Facebook page and the library's website

The closure of the main library branch will help facilitate the removal and repositioning of the entry doors, according to the Algonquin Public Library Facebook page. The construction is part of a lobby renovation project that has been underway since earlier this month.

Overdue fines will be waived for books due back between Sept. 1 through Sept.  5, according to the Facebook page.

For those expecting a book on hold next week, the main library period will have later pick up times available into the following week. Those wishing to get the materials sooner can call the Eastgate branch at 847-658-4343 and the books will be transferred.

Youth Services is requesting those in the Cover to Cover and Pageturner Book Discussions to try signing-up and picking-up their books this week.
