And renters should send a similar check because the interest their landlords' pay on the mortgages is deductible as well. There is plenty of affordable housing out there Mike. It just doesn't happen to be in Lake Forest. If you are interested in placing it in Lake Forest then perhaps you should consider buying a house on your street and then reselling it at half the market value.

If a not-for-profit or a private individual wants to provide housing at a price that is below the level that the open market would price it, they are free to do it. The problem comes in when the government gets involved. The market should be allowed to set prices and the do-gooders should be free to spend their money any way they see fit.

ReplyJust get rid of defined benefit programs. If it is good enough for the people who are picking up the tab, it should be good enough for the teachers.

ReplyAlcohol is addictive, tobacco (nicotine) is addictive, sugar is addictive. All of these kill at an alarming pace. The difference between them and weed is that big businesses have been built around them. If alcohol were invented today, it would be a banned substance.

ReplyIf the State would pass the pension obligations to the districts, the districts might exercise some restraint in negotiating contracts.

ReplyIf you don't like it, shop elsewhere. Jewel will either live without your business or they will drop the service. What a bunch of whiners!

THey included Baskin-Robbins but excluded Sweet Peas. If Baskin-Robbins is among the best then certainly they need to inclde the fozen food section in Jewel and Dominicks.
