After 10 years of employment, Kim left a permanent sales coordinator position with FedEx in 1993 when she had her first son. Kim grew up in the Northwest Suburbs and then moved to Phoenix, Arizona shortly after her second son was born.  She loved Arizona but grew tired of the heat  and moved back to Illinois in 2002.  From that time on, she has freelanced for various Chicagoland publications including the Daily Herald and Northwest Herald. She's been successful with local magazine sales and marketing projects for area businesses. Kim graduated from University of Phoenix with a marketing degree in 2000.  She loves this area and has formed alot of business relationships.  

When Kim's not taking pictures or doing yoga, she's busy tending to her four sons - three high schoolers and one middle-school student.  She's a baseball mom, and spends more than half the year traveling from city to city with her two oldest sons playing travel baseball.

Kim is now a freelance journalist and photographer based in Lake in the Hills who writes and takes pictures for magazines, web sites and now, for Patch.com.  Kim can be reached at kperkins48@att.net.
