District 300's Final Offer to LEAD 300

District 300 administrators and school board submitted its final offers to LEAD 300 Wednesday morning. The proposal comes after weeks of contract negotiation talks following the union's decision to approve a strike vote.

Today at 11:00 a.m., the Board forwarded its final offer to LEAD 300.  The elements below are part of a package proposal to the union. Major components addressed in this package proposal include salary, insurance, retirement, and extra pay; elementary class size; high school schedule and teacher load; issues related to education services (special education); teacher plan time; teacher arrival and departure time; and other issues related to working conditions. District 300 Teachers' Union Declares Impasse

At least 28 days must now pass before teachers in District 300 can strike. LEAD 300 will continue to negotiate with the district in the hopes of reaching an agreement.

District 300 teachers are inching closer to a strike after its teachers union declared an impasse Monday.  The impasse means the teachers union has at least 28 days before it can strike. Negotiations are scheduled to continue between District 300 and LEAD300, the teachers union, with the next negotiating session scheduled for Wednesday, according to the Northwest Herald.  The Daily Herald reports the main sticking points in negotiations has been class size, compensation and learning environment.  The District 300's teacher's union, LEAD 300, voted last month to authorize a strike with 97 percent of the union voting in favor of the strike, according to the Northwest Herald.  The vote gave the union's negotiating team the ability to strike …

I hope the school board does the right thing for the tax payers and the children and holds their course and not allow the school union to bully their way into raises and more benefits. When are people going to wake up and refuse to allow the teachers union to hold them hostage.   more ›
