Michelle Russell Out as Dundee-Crown Basketball Coach

Russell has been the varsity coach since 2008, according to the Daily Herald.

Dundee-Crown High School girls basketball coach will not return next season.  Dundee-High School administrators informed Michelle Russell — who has coached the varsity team since 2008 — that "should not be retained" as the coach in the future, according to the Daily Herald.  The record for the team during Russell's five seasons was 32-103, but the team had a 15-11 record in 2012, according to McHenryCountySports.com. Russell told McHenry County Sports she was "extremely surprised and shocked" by the decision to let her go.  Russell teaches at Westfield Community School, is a 1991 graduate of Dundee-Crown High School and was the girls basketball program's all-time leading scorer before go on to play college basketball  Valparaiso and Purdue…

Police: Teens Arrested for Armed Robbery in Dundee-Crown Parking Lot

The Carpentersville Police Department arrested the two teens last Thursday.

Two teens were arrested last week in connection with an armed robbery that occurred outside Dundee-Crown High School on Dec. 18.  The Carpentersville Police Department arrested a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old, both from Carpentersville, according to a District 300 press release. Both were charged with armed robbery and attempted vehicle theft.  They were not Dundee-Crown students.  The above information was updated on 8:43 a.m. --------- Carpentersville Police are investigating a report of a student who was robbed at gunpoint in the school's parking lot Tuesday evening during a girl's basketball game.  The student told police two young adult males approached him around 5:50 p.m. After some conversation, one of the males who was armed …

Dundee-Crown Comedy Show Fundraiser a Hit

Algonquin teen A.J. Lubecker organized the D.C. Comedy Jam, which was held on May 1 at Dundee-Crown High School.

Over 200 people stopped out to a comedy show organized by an Algonquin teen last week at Dundee-Crown High School. A.J. Lubecker, organizer of the D.C. Comedy Jam held on May 1, said the event raised $744 for for Students Assisting Family Emergencies or S.A.F.E. Three big boxes of canned foods were also donated to S.A.F.E. S.A.F.E. helps struggling families of Dundee-Crown students by helping them financially to do such things as paying the family's electric bill. District 300 Releases Additional Information Regarding Dundee-Crown Lockdown

A lockdown was ordered at Dundee-Crown High School and Perry Elementary School earlier today because of a threatening text message.

In cooperation with the Carpentersville Police Department, District 300 sent the following phone message out at 12:30 p.m. today to all its contacts at Dundee Crown High School and Perry Elementary School, both in Carpentersville.  “Good afternoon.  This is the Assistant Superintendent of School for  District 300, calling with an important message regarding Dundee-Crown High School and Perry Elementary School.  In cooperation with the local police, District 300 is currently conducting a Shelter-In-Place operation at Dundee-Crown and Perry.  This is not a drill.  District 300 took this preventative safety measure because of a text message that reportedly included a potential threat against the school.  We initially put the school on a Code …
