The District 158 Board of Education last week approved $1.4 million in construction bids for work, such as, "excavation of the football field and installation of drainage equipment" in preparation for the addition of a new synthetic field, according to the article.

Village officials are encouraging motorists to find alternate routes to a portion of Algonquin Road just west of downtown Algonquin as the main portion of the Western Bypass construction project is slated to get underway in coming weeks. The $71 million project is meant to relieve traffic congestion with a new four-lane two-mile stretch of roadway that will bypass downtown Algonquin. The new bypass is expected to open in summer 2014. The McHenry County Department of Transportation is in the process of resurfacing Pyott Road from Oak Street to the Lake in the Hills Airport. The work began last week and the placement of binder was complete as of June 8, according to a village of Lake in the Hills construction project update. The HMA surface will start being placed on Wednesday, June 13. The patching at the intersection of Algonquin Road and Pyott Road was scheduled to take place on Tuesday June 12th, according to the village of Lake in the Hills. Meanwhile, the Rakow Road project is halfway done, according to the Northwest Herald. For those who frequently use Edgewood Drive in Algonquin, it's time to find an alternate route. Construction on Edgewood Drive started last week and the roadway is currently closed to thru traffic. Edgewood Drive is expected to be closed through most of 2012, Algonquin village officials said. The $1.9 million project will include full reconstruction of Edgewood Drive, which is a one-mile stretch of roadway that runs from east-to-west from Hanson Road to Main Street in Algonquin. The storm sewer will also be replaced and a multi-use path constructed along Edgewood Drive.
