Algonquin’s Veteran Deputy Chief Leaving Post

Deputy Chief Ed Urban winding down 26 year career with Algonquin police.

  While Algonquin Deputy Chief Ed Urban is retiring from the department, he’s not ready to sit back and collect his Social Security. Urban is retiring from his post to pursue a new career. He has been in law enforcement for 29 years starting with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office as a corrections officer then the   Northern Illinois Department of Public Safety in DeKalb as an officer. Urban joined the Algonquin police department in October 1987. Urban has also taught courses at McHenry County College in law enforcement. He graduated from Columbia College with a degree in criminal justice administration. He is a former McHenry County Historical Society board member who volunteers when he can. Algonquin Police Have New Tool to Save Lives

When Sara Kathleen Schacht died of sudden cardiac arrest in 2002, there was no automated external defibrillator (AED) available to bring her heart back into rhythm. The 18-year-old Woodstock High School graduate’s family decided then to form the Sara Kathleen Schacht Memorial Fund to raise money to provide AED’s in locations throughout McHenry County. This week, Algonquin police department received a portable AED provided by the memorial fund. Schacht’s family wants to make AEDs as accessible as fire extinguishers so their daughter will not have died in vain. Algonquin Police: Retail Thefts, DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident

An individual can only be found guilty in a court of law. Brian A. DalBello, 20, of 1710 Crofton Drive, Algonquin was arrested and charged with retail theft on May 3, police said. He was taken into custody at the Algonquin Police Department, 2200 Harnish Drive then released after posting $150, reports stated. DalBello was given a court date of June 5 in McHenry County. A sixteen-year-old female from Huntley and a fifteen-year-old female from Lake in the Hills were both charged with retail theft on May 4, police said.
