Recap: Huntley Volleyball Falls To DeKalb

The Huntley girls volleyball team lost to DeKalb 25-22, 25-21 in the final of the Huntley Regional on Saturday. The loss ends the team's season.

It's hard to find holes in the argument that the Huntley girls volleyball team received one of the IHSA's toughest playoff seedings this year. The most obvious and nationally-known point supporting this argument was a potential showdown with Cary-Grove, the team ranked No. 1 in the country which gave Huntley two of their four regular-season losses this season, in sectionals. Huntley Volleyball Gears Up for Regional Game Tonight

The Huntley volleyball team begins post-season play at 7:30 p.m. tonight against the winner of the Jacobs-Crystal Lake South play-in match.

In 2009, it was eventual 4A State Champions Cary-Grove, a team currently ranked No. 1 in the nation by ESPN Rise and their likely sectional opponent, which ended the Red Raiders' season. While logic points to Huntley facing Cary-Grove – a team responsible for two of the Red Raiders' four losses in 2010 – in sectionals, Huntley head coach Michelle Jakubowski knows she must keep her team …

Junior has high hopes of beating Cary, a volleyball team that is ranked No. 1 by ESPN Rise.

The Huntley volleyball team is 24-3 in their 2010 season, and it has lived up to its own pre-season expectations. Huntley and LITH Patch recently caught up with Red Raiders outside hitter Sam Boesch a couple hours before she hit 12 kills in Huntley's 25-21, 25-21 victory over Crystal Lake South Oct. 14. Boesch discussed a myriad of topics, including club volleyball and playing against Cary-Grove, ranked by ESPN Rise as the No. 1 volleyball team in the country. Huntley and LITH Patch: How has your season has been going so far? Sam Boesch: Our season has been going really good so far. The only real losses we've had were to the … Huntley and LITH Patch: Best team in the country? Boesch: Yeah, basically. (Laughs). I think we've been doing …
