The Lake in the Hills Village Board is expected to hear a proposal for the new 70-unit complex during Tuesday's committee of a whole meeting.
The Lake in the Hills Village Board is expected to hear a proposal Tuesday for a new 70-unit apartment complex on Algonquin Road just east of Pyott Road, according to village of LITH documents. The apartment complex would be located on 5.15 acres of property and would include two three-story apartment buildings made up of two- and three-bedroom units. The property is not currently in the village and would need to be annexed in, according to the LITH documents. The complex would also have a connection to the nearby Prairie Trail, which is just north of the property. The developer, Turnstone Development, is also proposing 140 spaces in its parking lot, according to LITH documents. The village board is expected to vote on the apartment …

The village of Lake in the Hills has new leadership.
Last week, Ed Plaza, who served as the Lake in the Hills village president for the past 12 years, bid farewell as Paul Mulcahy took the reigns as the village's new leader. Plaza did not run for re-election this past April. Mulchay, a village board trustee, won the village president seat over Bill Dustin. In a five-minute speech, Plaza thanked staff members and trustees, spoke of the accomplishments the village saw during his tenure and spoke kindly of Mulcahy, who he said was "dedicated to the village of Lake in the Hills," according to the Northwest Herald. Three incumbents and one newcomer for the Algonquin Village Board trustee race sounded off on issues affecting the village during a forum Wednesday. The forum was held at the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce, 2114 West Algonquin Road in Algonquin. There are three seats up for grabs on the Algonquin Village Board in the upcoming election, which is April 9. Newcomer Richard Flynn spoke in opposition to red-light cameras during the forum, saying he would do away with all three currently set up in the village of Algonquin, according to the Daily Herald. The Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commercewill host two candidate forums — one tonight and one next week — to allow residents to meet local village board candidates. Tonight, a forum will be held for the Algonquin Village Board of Trustees candidates from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce, 2114 W. Algonquin Road in Algonquin, according to the Chamber of Commerce website. The forum will be as follows: written questions will be taken from the audience by moderator, Steve Kaniewski and then directed to each candidate. On March 20, a forum will be held for the Lake in the Hills village board president and trustee positions. The forum will start at 7 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce office.

In total, 230 residents took the village's annual Resident Satisfaction Survey in September.
Lake in the Hills residents responding to a village survey this past month ranked communication, public safety and recreational opportunities among the village’s strong suits. Survey takers cited better maintenance and installation of sidewalks and ease of walking and cycling in LITH as areas of improvement for the village, according to survey results posted in the Lake in the Hills Committee of a Whole packet this week. In September, the village of Lake in the Hills sought feedback in its resident satisfaction survey, which was posted on the village’s website.
