Local Jewel-Osco Stores to Get Twinkies' Shipments Tuesday

Will there be a mad rush of shoppers hoping to get their hands on the Hostess products?

Jewel-Osco will receive what could be one of the final shipments of Hostess-brand products on Tuesday, according to the Jewel-Osco Facebook page. Twinkies, Zingers, Ding Dongs and Orange Cupcakes will be delivered at different times throughout the day to select Chicagoland Jewel-Osco stores, according to the Facebook page. In Algonquin, the Jewel Osco stores at 103 South Randall Road and 1501 East Algonquin Road should expect shipments between 5 and 11 p.m. Tuesday. Here are when other area stores are expected to receive shipments: The Jewel-Osco Facebook page has a full list of shipment times for select stores. Jewel-Osco stores will receive over 20,000 units of Twinkies in 10-packs on Tuesday, according to the Daily Herald. …

Poll: Which Hostess Products Should Survive?

Hostess is being liquidated which means that some of the companies brands could be bought by another company and continue on.

Hostess won permission this week from a U.S. Bankrupcty judge to liquidate and sell off its brands, the Chicago Tribune reported. The bankruptcy of 82-year-old company will cost about 15,000 people their jobs immediately, with another 3,200 people to be let go in coming months, the newspaper reported. Although Hostess was a troubled company with more than $1 billion in debt, its iconic brands still generated more than $2 billion in revenue a year. So it is quite possible that someone will buy some of the company's products as part of the liquidation.
