Three Oaks Sledding Hill Open for Fun

With the arrival of snow, the sledding hill at Three Oaks Recreation Area is officially open.

The arrival of snow - and more snow- finally marks the opening of the sledding hill at Three Oaks Recreation Area in Crystal Lake. According to city officials, and the sign at Three Oaks, the sledding hill is now open. Lack of snow over the past two winters has prevented residents from getting much use from the slope. Parking is free for residents, and non-residents should be prepared to pay parking fees, according to the Three Oaks website. Restroom facilities are available on site. Snowboards, skis, ramps and jumps are not permitted. Three Oaks Recreation Area is located at 5517 Route 14, …

Patch Readers Sound Off on Three Oaks Proposal

One Lake in the Hills Village Board trustee is proposing an agreement between Lake in the Hills and Crystal Lake that would allow village residents to use Three Oaks Recreation Area for free.

Last week, Lake in the Hills Patch posted an article about an agreement proposed by Lake in the Hills Village Trustee Bob Huckins that would allow Lake in the Hills residents to use the new and very popular Three Oaks Recreation Area in Crystal Lake for free. In exchange, Crystal Lake residents would be able to use the beaches on Woods Creek Lake in Lake in the Hills at a discounted rate of $2 — which is how much Lake in Lake in the Hills residents pay. Crystal Lake residents get into Three Oaks for free, while others have to pay a fee.  We heard from a lot of readers who had strong opinions on this proposal. We have included some of those comments below. Let us know what you think about the proposal in the comments section below.  Tell us…

I'm with Sharon! I shopped in CL for many years but have tried to shop more locally in the past year or so. Great, I'm glad to hear that Hobby Lobby is coming to Algonquin/LITH. That's one less dollar I have to spend in Crystal Lake.   more ›
