Area Girls Track Athletes Qualify for State

Huntley High School placed third overall at the sectional meet in Belvidere last week while Jacobs placed fourth overall.

Help Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Patch get to 1,500 "likes" on Facebook Several local girls track and field athletes will be headed to the state meet at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston this Thursday through Saturday.  The Jacobs High School girls track team placed fourth overall at the Belvidere (North) girls sectional track and field meet on May 9 with 43 points. Rockton Hononegah came in first place with 85 points while Cary-Grove High School came in second place with 75 points and Huntley High School came in third place with 59 points, according to preliminary results posted on the IHSA website.   Lauren VanVlierbergen, a sophomore at Jacobs, qualified for the 1600-meter run placing first overall at the sectional meet with a …

Huntley High School Girls Basketball to Battle in State Semifinals

The team will take on Rolling Meadows High School on Friday in the class 4A semifinals.

The Huntley girls basketball team will be heading to the state finals at Illinois State University in Normal this weekend.  The Red Raiders will take on the Rolling Meadows girls basketball team in the Class 4A semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Illinois High School Association website. The tournament will wrap up on Saturday with the 4A finals. The Huntley girls cinched their first trip to state in the school's history after winning 47-43 against Wheaton Warrenville South in the Dundee-Crown Supersectional this past Monday, according to the Northwest Herald.  The win for Huntley (29-6) ended a 15-game winning streak for Wheaton (29-4), according to the Daily Herald. Jacobs' Allison Riedel to Compete in State Gymnastics Meet

The state meet will be held Feb. 15 and 16 at Palatine High School.

She had a qualifying score of 9.725, according to the Illinois High School Association website.  The Prairie Ridge High School co-op team brought home the team championship at the Fremd sectional and has also advanced to the state meet.  The state meet will be held Feb. 15 and 16 at Palatine High School.  Congratulate the area girls who will be heading to state this weekend and wish them good luck …

Iowa Man Found Guilty of Meth Possession on Burlington Road While on Business in Kane County

An Iowa man with a history of drug convictions has been convicted of being in possession of methamphetamine while he was in Kane County in 2009 on business. Kevin G. Huinker, 46, of the 200 block of Ninth Ave., Fort Atkinson, IA, was convicted Aug. 23 by a Kane County jury on one count of unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony; two counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, each a Class A misdemeanor; and one count of unlawful possession of cannabis, a Class C misdemeanor. At about 10:15 p.m. Nov. 30, 2009, a Kane County sheriff’s deputy responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle stopped at a gas station at Burlington and Plank roads in far western Kane County.
