Grammy Winner Delfeayo Marsalis, Performs at Raue Center

Producer and jazz master and his octet will take on the music of Duke Ellington this Saturday night at the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake.

Grammy Award-winning producer and NEA Jazz Master Delfeayo Marsalis brings "Sweet Thunder"  to the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake. Marsalis and his dynamic jazz octet will perform a fresh take on the music of Duke Ellington at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 18, according to a Raue Center press release. "Marsalis will unite the worlds of music and drama, featuring a full stage set, clever props, costuming and monologues by native New Orleans thespian Kenneth Brown, Jr. (of HBO's hit series Treme)," the Raue release stated. Richard Marx to Headline National Piano Conference at Raue Center

Second annual piano conference scheduled for June 27-30 draws young pianists from throughout the country.

The Raue Center for the Arts has announced Richard Marx will headline the 2nd Annual National Piano Conference in June. The conference runs from June 27 - 30, at the Raue Center, 26 N. Williams St., Crystal Lake. Marx will perform at 8 p.m. on June 29, according to Alexandra McMillin, marketing and development manager for the Raue. A songwriter, producer and performer, Marx has sold more than 30 million albums, scored 14 chart-topping singles and earned a Grammy for song of the year, McMillin said in a release. The Chicago native's chart-topping hits include “Hold on to the Nights,” “Don’t Mean Nothing,” “Satisfied” and “Right Here Waiting.” Marx achieved a seven-year string of triumphs that rivaled any in pop-rock music history. Performer Billy Jonas Brings Creative Show to Raue Center

The evening will feature music by Áthas, comedy from Bob Rumba and a performance by Irish dancers from The Rebecca McCarthy School of Dance. Clay Jenkinson Performs 'Rushmore Speaks' to Benefit Crystal Lake Library, Raue Center

Nationally known historical interpreter Clay Jenkinson will introduce new show, "Rushmore Speaks."

  Clay Jenkinson, nationally known historical interpreter and scholar, will perform for the Tenth Annual Great American Series to benefit the Crystal Lake Library Foundation and the Raue Center For The Arts.  The performance will be held on Saturday, March 2, at the Raue Center, 26 N. Williams St., Crystal Lake. Jenkinson will introduce a new show “Rushmore Speaks” in observance of the Crystal Lake Public Library’s 100th anniversary. Martin Elementary Students Perform in 'An Evening of Percussion' at Raue Center

The performance will be this Saturday.

A group of fourth and fifth grade students from Martin Elementary School will perform in "An Evening of Percussion" this Saturday at the Raue Center for the Arts, 26 N. Williams St. in Crystal Lake. The Mallets, Movement and More group is led by Martin music teachers Ingrid and Brent Mullane. 'Irish House Party' Returns to the Raue

Irish music and dance show sold out in 2012.

    The Irish House Party is returning to the Raue Center for the Arts after playing to a sold-out crowd last year. The group will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25., at the Raue, 26 N. Williams St., downtown Crystal Lake. The five member group combines Irish music and dance to conjure images of flat caps, waist coats and comely maidens dancing at the cross-roads. "The Irish House Party is a welcome antidote to these often cheesy portrayals of Irish music and culture," said Alexandra McMillin, Raue marketing and development coordinator, said in a press release.
