The Kane County Division of Transportation will being resurfacing a portion of Randall Road in Algonquin on Monday.
Randall Road resurfacing between Route 72 and Corporate Parkway in Algonquin is expected to start Monday, according to Kane County Division of Transportation. Temporarily lane closures as well as delays and increased travel times should be expected Monday through Saturday as the resurfacing project is underway, according to the news release. Resurfacing projects typically include grinding and removal of 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches of top wearing surface of the pavement, placement of a fresh oil application over the ground pavement and placement of 2 1/4 inches of an asphalt layer over the oil application to provide a smooth driving surface, according to the Kane County DOT. Traffic advisories are posted on the Kane County DOT website.

A rollover accident at the busy intersection slowed traffic Monday evening.
Three people were sent to the hospital in stable condition following a crash at Algonquin and Randall roads about 5 p.m. Monday, according to the Daily Herald. The accident happened when a Mercedes-Benz collided with a Saturn sports utility vehicle at the busy intersection, causing the SUV to roll over, according to witnesses from the scene. AMC Lake in the Hills 12, 311 N. Randall Road, is undergoing several renovations, which will include the addition of a small lobby bar.
A bar area, new reclining seats and more aisle space for movie-goers are a few of the major upgrades underway at the Lake in the Hills movie theater. The Lake in the Hills Village Board on Thursday approved a liquor license for the AMC Theatre at 311 N. Randall Road in Lake in the Hills, which will allow the theater to move forward with plans to add a small lobby bar, according to the LITH weekly resident newsletter. The addition of the bar will allow those over the age of 21 years old to purchase alcoholic beverages before and after the movie and also bring those drinks into the movie theaters, according to village documents. The village of Algonquin's committee of a whole heard from the engineering firm Tuesday who is working on the design for the bridge.
The village of Algonquin is one step closer to building a pedestrian bridge over Randall Road. The Algonquin Committee of a Whole met Tuesday night and heard from Michael E. Kerr, of Christopher B. Burke Engineering out of Rosemont, who presented various design options for the bridge. The bridge will cross Randall near Huntington Drive/Bunker Hill Drive. The majority of COW members agreed on a design with brick pillars that has a village of Algonquin emblem on it. Trustee Jim Siegert was the only trustee not to select the brick-pillar design, requesting the village move forward with two of the more artistic and less-traditional designs presented by Kerr. Various pieces of artwork will be displayed throughout the village starting this fall as part of Algonquin's Public Arts Program.
Don't be surprised if you see a T-Rex located off of Randall Road in coming months. The metal sculpture is one of the 40 art displays recently approved by the Algonquin Village Board to be installed in various locations throughout Algonquin this upcoming fall as a part of the village's public arts program. "The primary goal of the Algonquin Public Art Master Plan is to publicly display in very visible and accessible locations works of art created by local, regional, national and international artists," according to a memo to Algonquin's Committee of a Whole. CVS Pharmacy on Randall Road in Crystal Lake was robbed of Oxycodone on Sept. 2.
CVS Pharmacy was robbed of Oxycodone Sunday, Sept. 2 after a man handed a pharmacist a note and threatened him with a semi-automatic handgun, police said. The robbery occurred at 10:38 p.m. at 1305 Randall Road in Crystal Lake. The suspect was described as a white male, in his 20s, about six feet tall with red facial hair and a goatee. Police said in a press release that the man spoke with an accent that was possbily European. Oxycodone is a strong narcotic pain-reliever. Police stated that the suspect was described as wearing a ball cap, dark colored sun glasses, dark hooded-sweatshirt, baggy jeans and a black colored tee-shirt. The Brunswick Zone at 2075 E. Algonquin Road closed in May while the Brunswick on Randall Road remains open, according to a Northwest Herald article. The building, which housed a 32-lane bowling alley facility and had miniature golf and batting cages outside, now sits vacant, Algonquin Community Development Director Russ Farnum told the Northwest Herald. The Algonquin Road location closed "as a result of" the Brunswick Zone XL opening on Randall Road, Mike Fassolo, vice president of operations for Brunswick Bowling & Billiards told the Northwest Herald.

A $3.16 million grant was awarded to the village of Algonquin, according to the Northwest Herald.
A federal grant will help make pedestrian bridge over Randall Road near Jacobs High School a reality, according to a Northwest Herald article. The village of Algonquin was awarded a $3.16 million grant from the federal government's Congestion Mitigation Air Quality program to build the bridge in the area of Huntington Drive and Bunker Hill Drive, according to the NW Herald. Construction is almost complete on the long-awaited Hobby Lobby in Algonquin, with the arts and craft supply retailer aiming for a fall 2012 opening. Hobby Lobby should open in early fall, bringing between 35 and 50 new jobs to Algonquin, according to a Hobby Lobby press release. “We are very excited to be part of yet another new community as we continue to expand in Illinois,” John Schumacher, Hobby Lobby's assistant vice president of advertising, said in a press release.
