Portion of Prairie Trail Closes in Algonquin

The trail will be closed starting immediately through May 1.

A section of the Prairie Trail in Algonquin will be closed starting immediately through May 1 due to a bridge replacement project and continued work being done to the Western Bypass, according to a McHenry County Conservation District press release.  "The section between Main Street in Algonquin to just south of the connecting trail from a subdivision off Pyott Road" will be closed during the work and no thru traffic will be allowed, according to the press release.  The Meyer Road parking lot in Algonquin both northbound and southbound along the trail is also closed. Trail users are encouraged to access the trail from downtown Algonquin to go southbound, or in Crystal Lake to go northbound along the 26-mile trail, according to the news …

Portion of Prairie Trail in Algonquin Closed Through April

A bridge replacement project will close a portion of the trail through April.

A bridge replacement project will close a portion of the Prairie Trail in Algonquin through April The Meyer North Bridge will be replaced and the trail will be closed from just north of the Meyer Road parking lot to just south of Rakow Road, according to the McHenry County Conservation District website. No traffic will be allowed on the trail in that area.  Those who frequent the Prairie Trail can sign up for e-mail alerts from the MCCD regarding any temporary trail closures along the Prairie Trail, according to the MCCD website.

UPDATE: Western Bypass Closures Ahead

A portion of the Prairie Trail in Algonquin is expected to be closed through Sept. 11 while Algonquin Road will be reduced to one lane in coming days.

Get ready for brake lights ahead as long term lane closures to Algonquin Road are expected in coming days as the main portion of the Western Bypass project gets underway.  On Friday, Sept. 7 Algonquin Road between Main Street and Meyer Drive in Algonquin is expected to be reduced to one lane through the rest of fall 2012, according to the village of Algonquin website. Intermittent lane closures along Algonquin Road began Tuesday.  Village officials are encouraging motorists to find alternate routes to the portion of Algonquin Road just west of downtown Algonquin.  In addition, a portion of the Prairie Trail in Algonquin closed on Wednesday and will remain off limits to bikers during weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Sept. 11, …

There is no planning or coordination between the individual projects. That would be up to the village planners and board to coordinate with the state and construction companies....too much like work. Let's all just deal with the inconvenience for the next 2 years, so they can complete a 9 month job, overcharge us and be repairing it 5 years from now because of piss poor engineering and materials…   more ›
