Barbara Key Park Fire Remains Under Investigation
The playground equipment at the park will be replaced.
A fire that destroyed playground equipment remains under investigation with the Lake in the Hills Fire Department. The blaze was reported at 9:24 p.m. on Aug. 2 at Barbara Key Park, 9191 Pyott Road. When the Lake in the Hills Police Department arrived at the scene, they found the playground equipment on fire, said Detective Pat Boulden of the LITH Police Department. The blaze remains under investigation as the police department is currently trying to determine if an accelerant was used to start the fire, Boulden said. "We have items sent to the state lab and we are waiting for that evidence to come back," Boulden said. I hope they hurry. That playground is a public nuisance and an eyesore. If they wanted to keep the playground for investigative purposes, they should have moved it to another location immediately. It's a joke to think that an orange snow fence will keep out more vandals.   more ›
