Volo Update: Woman, Two Children Found Woman, Two Children Missing The Lake County Sheriff's Department is seeking information on the whereabouts of Aneta M. Marsek, 33, of Volo and her two children, two-year-old Chevelle and Macenzie who is four-months old. The three have not been seen or heard from since Oct. 6, at roughly 7 p.m., when they left Marsek's parent's home in Wauconda.  The woman and her children were reported missing by her estranged husband, Dan Marsek. Palatine Eight Chemical Bombs Found Near Condominiums The local bomb squad disarmed and removed eight chemical bombs from a courtyard at a condominium development Sept. 30, police said. According to the Palatine Police Department, filled with bleach, the eight “Macgyver type bombs,” or homemade chemical bombs were found around the courtyard behind the Randville Condominiums in Palatine at 1116 E. Randville Drive, less than one mile from Palatine High School. Park Ridge Man Charged With Assaulting Teen Who Was Walking Home A Park Ridge resident attacked and ripped the shorts off a 16-year-old girl on Aug. 15 around 5 p.m., Park Ridge police stated. Anthony M. Nugent, 37, of Park Ridge, was charged with one count of aggravated battery, a class 3 felony. Nugent was also charged with misdemeanor possession of cannabis. According to police, the victim was walking in the 900 block of Home Avenue. At that time, Nugent allegedly asked the girl what she was carrying. The victim responded that it was a musical instrument and continued walking, police said. Buffalo Grove Man Charged After Fireworks Cause Large Brush Fire A brush fire northwest of Buffalo Grove and Aptakisic roads destroyed grass and wiped out power to thousands of residents, but no lives or homes were harmed in the blaze. The fire was started by fireworks and quickly consumed about 15 acres of Commonwealth Edison property July 8. Police charged Gabriel R. Horwich, 20, of 424 Cedar Court North, Buffalo Grove, with criminal damage to property by reckless means of a fire — a Class 4 felony. South Barrington Four Charged In 2011 Murder Four people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man found in Penny Road Forest Preserve last year.  David P. Campbell, 27, of Waukegan, was found naked and partially submerged in Penny Road Pond on July 7, 2011. Investigators say he was strangled and ruled his death a homicide.  Nadia Palacios, 22, of the 3500 block of Winhaven Drive, Waukegan, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.   South Barrington Charges In Palatine Man's Death A Schaumburg man was charged by South Barrington police in the death of a 19-year-old Palatine man that occurred in South Barrington in April. Timothy R. Hughes, 27, of the 400 block of Woodcroft Court, was charged with aggravated DUI and appeared at a bond hearing at Cook County court in Rolling Meadows May 14, said Dept. Ray Cordell. Libertyville Thief Maces Walgreens Employee Libertyville police are looking for a man who sprayed a Walgreens employee's face with a mace-type spray during a retail theft incident May 30. Police Chief Clinton Herdegen said the man entered the Walgreens store, 1470 S. Milwaukee Ave., at about 11 p.m. May 30 and started loading his jacket with boxes of Allegra. When a store employee saw him, the man approached the employee, grabbed her arm and sprayed her face with a self-defense/mace-type spray, Herdegen said. Skokie Woman Charged In Fatal Crash A 23-year-old Skokie woman was charged in the crash that killed an 8-year-old boy, according to a police statement released Wednesday. Hanin Goma, of Skokie, was charged with one count felony aggravated driving under the influence resulting in death, and one count misdemeanor driving under the influence. Goma was also cited for failing to yield at a stop sign and failing to provide proof of insurance. The victim, Carter Vo, was out with his bicycle before being hit and killed as a result of the three-car, chain-reaction crash. He was pronounced dead at 8:18 p.m. Vo was a student at Madison School.
