The McHenry County Sheriff's Office is holding a child fingerprinting event in honor of the upcoming National Missing Children's Day and the Take 25 Child Safety Campaign. The free fingerprinting service is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, 2200 N. The McHenry County Sherriff's Office is joining over 500 local law enforcement agencies across the state in the 2013 Click It or Ticket campaign for the Memorial Day holiday. Two Richmond men were arrested earlier this week for weapons and multiple drug-related charges. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, which includes officers from the Lake in the Hills Police Department, conducted a joint narcotics investigation with the Palatine Police Department and the Illinois State Police North Central Narcotics Task Force (NCNTF). On Monday, May 6, members of the county's SWAT team, Narcotics Unit, K-9 Unit, and NCNTF conducted a search warrant at the address of 9702 N. Clark Rd. in Richmond, according to a release issued by Sheriff Keith Nygren. An 83-year-old Spring Grove woman died at Centegra Hospital early Friday after she slipped and the vehicle she had been driving rolled backward, causing her injury, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office press release. The paramedics were already on scene at June A. Severs' home, at 1419 Main St. in Spring Grove around 2 a.m. for a medical assist for her husband when the accident happened. A McHenry County couple has been arrested for stealing more than $27,000 worth of Snap-On Tools in Crystal Lake. Liliana Bravo and her husband, Milton Chapa, of 3207 S. Cherry Ave., McHenry (close to Island Lake), were arrested and each charged with theft over $10,000, a Class 2 felony, according to McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren. Nygren said his department received anonymous information from Snap-On that Liliana Bravo, an employee of the tool company located at 3009 Route 176 in Crystal Lake, had been facilitating thefts through her position at the company, Nygren said. Investigators were at 3217 Carrington Drive on the east side of Crystal Lake on Thursday trying to determine the cause of the house fire, which spread to four other nearby homes.
Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department has released the status of the five homes involved in the Wednesday afternoon fires on Carrington Drive. The house located at 3217 Carrington Dr., where the fire originally started at about 3:30 p.m. May 1, was characterized as a "total loss," Battalion Chief Jerry Larsen said. The house burned to the ground, and only the home's front brick facade and chimney remained standing. Authorities believe the high winds may have blown embers from 3217 Carrington to houses directly across the street, where four other houses caught fire as well. A Crystal Lake woman already on probation for several counts of cruelty to horses was arrested again Thursday and charged with four counts of cruel treatment. Jamie Koy, 39, 6102 E. Hillside, was arrested Thursday on animal neglect charges relating to horses in her care, according to McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren. McHenry County Animal Control removed eight horses belonging to Koy from her Hillside Drive in Crystal Lake. The animals will be evaluated, given medical attention and will be placed with the Hooved Animal Humane Society, Nygren said in a release. The new charges against Koy are Class 4 Felonies. The McHenry County Gang Task Force was activated Friday by the Harvard Police Department in order to suppress a recent spike in gang activity in Harvard. During the suppression detail, task force members and Harvard Police made about 18 contacts with gang members, nine arrests, three traffic arrests and recovered approximately 15 grams of cannabis, a scale, paraphernalia, and a loaded handgun, according to a release issued by McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren. A Woodstock man already on probation was arrested last week on several drug-related charges after McHenry County Sheriff's deputies searched his home and allegedly found $500 worth of heroin. According to a sheriff's department press release, Edward Mercado, 39, 1811 Woodside Dr., was charged with: The Sheriff's Office received a tip that heroin was being sold from Mercado's residence, Sheriff Keith Nygren said.
