Children Learn New Tricks at Area Magic Class

Mike Sheldon occasionally performs magical acts for his family's entertainment, and now the 9-year-old has a few more tricks up his sleeve. The Algonquin boy learned four new tricks Thursday night at a Gary Kantor magic class held at Algonquin Historic Village Hall, 2 S. Main St., Algonquin. The class was provided by the Algonquin-Events Recreation Department and the Lake in the Hills Park and Recreation Department. "I thought the class was good," Sheldon said. "I think I've got the tricks down already." Kantor, a school social worker by day and magician by night, offers magic classes for nearly 130 park districts during after-school and special education programs throughout the Chicago area.
