Woodstock Man Charged In Deadly Street Race McHenry County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Woodstock man in connection with a fatal traffic crash that killed two 16-year-old boys on July 1. Dan L. Huber is charged with failure to report a traffic crash, a Class 1 felony and aggravated street racing, a Class 4 felony, according to a sheriff’s department release. His bond was set at $100,000. The initial investigation revealed that a 2010 Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound on David Road, in unincorporated Woodstock, when it left the roadway, the release stated. Alec J. Morton Grove Man Killed Crossing Tracks To Greet Fiancee Danny You, 38, was crossing the train tracks in Morton Grove at about 6 p.m. Tuesday to meet his fiancee on the other side, said Michael Slattery of Skokie, who identified himself as You's roommate, friend and co-worker at a Morton Grove moving company. "He was on top of the world, because [You was] supposed to get married Wednesday (the following day)," Slattery said. "He had it all set. They were going to get married at the courthouse." The fiancee and Slattery witnessed the entire accident, Slattery said. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death an accident, a spokesperson said Thursday. Buffalo Grove Man Charged After Fireworks Cause Large Brush Fire A brush fire northwest of Buffalo Grove and Aptakisic roads destroyed grass and wiped out power to thousands of residents, but no lives or homes were harmed in the blaze. The fire was started by fireworks and quickly consumed about 15 acres of Commonwealth Edison property July 8. Police charged Gabriel R. Horwich, 20, of 424 Cedar Court North, Buffalo Grove, with criminal damage to property by reckless means of a fire — a Class 4 felony. Horwich was charged after an off-duty police officer from Morton Grove saw four people who had allegedly been using illegal fireworks running from the scene around 1 p.m. on Buffalo Grove Road between Aptakisic Road and Brandywyn Lane, …

  South Barrington Charges In Palatine Man's Death A Schaumburg man was charged by South Barrington police in the death of a 19-year-old Palatine man that occurred in South Barrington in April. Timothy R. Hughes, 27, of the 400 block of Woodcroft Court, was charged with aggravated DUI and appeared at a bond hearing at Cook County court in Rolling Meadows May 14, said Dept. Ray Cordell. William Cole Deacon was standing in Barrington Road near Willow Creek Community Church when he was hit by Hughes' Toyota Corolla on April 28, according to an article in the Daily Herald.
