Flood Watch in Effect; Thunderstorms Tonight; Snow Tomorrow

When it comes to the weather, Algonquin and Lake in the Hills should expect a little bit of everything over the next 24 hours.

Mother Nature plans to throw everything our way over the next 24 hours.  Tuesday started off as a warm day, with temperatures reaching into the 60s in Algonquin and Lake in the Hills, and switched over to heavy rainfall in the afternoon. A flood watch was issued Tuesday for McHenry County and much of the surrounding counties and will remain in effect through 4 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. More than two inches of rain could fall in some areas through Wednesday morning.  The rainfall comes when much of ground remains frozen. This could cause the majority of rainfall to become runoff and could cause local streams and rivers to rise rapidly, according to the NWS.  Severe weather is also in the forecast overnight …
