Algonquin Parks and Rec Offers Fun Ways to Get Fit

  Get fit is one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions year after year, according to usa.gov.com. The Algonquin Parks and Recreation department has plenty of fun ways to help people achieve that resolution, from a workout using belly dance, Bollywood and African dance to Yin-Yang Yoga. Fit to Shimmy-A workout from the Eastern Hemisphere is being offered at a reduced price and helps tone and strengthen muscles using belly dance and other dance steps. Preregistration is required. Yin-Yang Yoga is one of the many yoga classes offered. It focuses on passive and active yoga movements. This winter’s programs include the No Limits Weight Loss Challenge. I got a few questions on last week's column so I figured I would add some more details on mixing things up. Most of the questions are related to adding the cardio to strength training, as well as the idea of intense cardio. Building up your aerobic endurance, or stamina, can be done either in a cardio workout plan or in strength training. Aerobic endurance refers to your body's ability continue physical activity for an extended period of time—how much oxygen can your lungs and heart take in and then deliver to your muscle.
