For this week's McHenry County Patch Chowdown Showdown, we asked readers to tell us which area business serves up the best ice cream or frozen custard or yogurt in McHenry County. Thank you to everyone who submitted their votes by commenting in our article from earlier this week. This week's four finalists: Julie Ann’s in Crystal Lake, Oberweis in McHenry, The Freeze in Crystal Lake and Yumz in Crystal Lake. An honorable mention goes out to Van’s Frozen Custard in Carpentersville, which is Kane County. You can cast your vote for your favorite spot by submitting your answer in the poll below. Congrats to Conscious Cup in Crystal Lake!
After a week of taking votes from local Patch.com readers, Conscious Cup in Crystal Lake has been chosen as the best place to get coffee in McHenry County. Patch.com readers chose Conscious Cup and Cafe Firefly in Algonquin as finalists in this round of the Chowdown. Voting closed for the Chowdown at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Conscious Cup lead our Chowdown poll with 93 votes — 82 percent of the vote total. Cafe Firefly had 20 votes or 17 percent of the vote total. Conscious Cup also receieved two positive reviews and ratings over the past week on its directory listing on Crystal Lake Patch.
