Algonquin Cemetery Undergoes Fall Clean-up

Village cleans more than 120 gravesites in preparation for winter.

The Algonquin Cemetery, 1091 Cary Rd., recently received its annual fall face-lift. The clean-up allows friends and relatives of the deceased in the gravesites the opportunity to take any flowers or decorations from the sites before landscapers prepare the cemetery for winter. "The gravesites are maintained very well," said Clifford Chally, 57, a visitor at the cemetery. "The cemetery is very nice and serene. It's peaceful here." The village keeps a cemetery fund to pay for the bi-annual cleanups in the fall and spring as well as maintenance and other necessities throughout the year. "It's a good opportunity to make it out to the cemetery to tidy up gravesites before winter weather hits," said Michael Kumbera, management assistant for the …
