Kane Circuit Court Clerk Race: Technology Talk

Tom Hartwell, Karin Herwick and Cathy Hurlbut are all on the GOP ticket to vie for Deb Seyller’s seat.

The Republican primary for Kane County Circuit Court clerk includes three names this year. The contenders are Tom Hartwell, Karin Herwick and Cathy Hurlbut. They are all vying for the clerk position currently held by Deb Seyller. Hartwell, Herwick and Hurlbut all have current or previous ties to county public office. Hartwell was a County Board member from 1996 to 2000. Herwick is the chief operations officer and chief deputy of the Circuit Court Clerk's Office. And Hurlbut is the District 19 Kane County Board member. Operation of the Kane County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office has been a touchy issue as of late. Cathy Hurlbut Announces Candidacy for Kane County Circuit Clerk

Longtime Kane County Board member will seek position now held by Deb Seyller.

Elgin-area Kane County Board member and attorney Cathy Hurlbut announced Friday that she will be a Republican candidate for Kane County circuit clerk. The position is currently held by Deborah Seyller, who previously announced that she will not be seeking re-election. “I have seriously considered running for Kane County circuit clerk for the past several years," Hurlbut said in her announcement. Tom Hartwell a businessman and attorney is also running for the circuit court. He has been an attorney in Kane County for 26 years. Was a County Board member for 4 years and a President of the Continental Elgin Little League. In collecting petitions received almost twice as many signatures and collected almost 750 of them himself.   more ›
