Jacobs Special Olympic Basketball to Square Off Before Bulls' Game

Team will scrimmage another Special Olympic Basketball team at Chicago's United Center Nov. 13.

Most young athletes dream of growing up and playing with the pros, surrounded by thousands of cheering fans. The 20 players on Jacobs Special Olympic basketball team will realize part of that dream when they take center court Nov. 13 at the United Center in Chicago. The team, hailing from all parts of Community Unit School District 300 boundaries, will play a pre-game scrimmage to warm up the crowd attending the Chicago Bulls-Washington Wizards showdown. It's the second year Jacobs players have received the honorary invite, made possible through Special Olympics. "Last year was awesome," coach Jim Blaseck said. "The kids still talk about it.
