Patch Flash: ‘Dead’ Highland Park Man Guilty of Identity Theft

  A man who disappeared from the Chicago area more than 32 years ago and was living in Las Vegas has pleaded guilty to a felony identity fraud charge. Arthur Gerald Jones, 73, was declared legally dead 25 years ago after leaving a wife and three children in Highland Park. The McHenry County Appellate Court has ordered the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office to re-hire a deputy who was fired three years ago. The ruling affirmed the decision by the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police arbitration that Zane Seipler should have been assigned a three-day suspension for his infractions rather than being discharged from his post in 2008.  A Cary special education teacher explained the impact of a nearly $5,000 pay cut on her family at the Cary School …

The weekend historic rainfall is still causing havoc in Chicago suburbs. The sinkhole that has caused lane closures on Hicks Road near Dundee Road could take a week or more to fix. The sinkhole was caused by a sewer line collapse after Palatine receive more than 8 inches of rain in a 24-hour period, and about 5.5 inches of rain in about three hours early Saturday, July 23.
