Algonquin House Fire: Smoke Detector Alerted Owners
An Algonquin homeowner was alerted to a fire by the sound of his smoke detector Wednesday, fire officials said.
No one was injured in an Algonquin house fire on Cary-Algonquin Road on Wednesday afternoon, fire officials said. The owner of the house at 1430 Cary-Algonquin Road, located on the northeast side of Algonquin, said he was renovating the two-story home when a smoke detector sounded. He was able to exit the building safely. Fire crews from Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District arrived on the scene at about 12:30 p.m. Smoke and flames were billowing from the front of the house, and crews immediately began fighting the blaze from the outside, according to a press release issued by Battalion Chief John Greene.
