Pro Baseball Pick 'Em Contest Winner Announced

Patch user "mp" guessed that the teams would combined for 33 runs, two fewer than the actual total of 35.

Editor's note: Due to an oversight, the winner of this contest was incorrectly announced on Tuesday. We sincerely regret the error. It shouldn’t be surprising that most entrants in Patch’s Pro Baseball Pick ‘Em Contest did not give the batters enough credit in making their selections. Milwaukee outscored Chicago 18-17 in the three-game series over the weekend, and few participants counted on 35 total runs from the teams battling for last place in the division. By guessing the teams would score 33 runs (Brewers 19, Cubs 14), Patch user "mp" was chosen to win the $100 gift card good for pro baseball apparel. Thanks to everyone who participated. Enjoy the rest of the baseball season!

New Additions for Sunset Park in Lake in the Hills

A new vaulted, double restroom recently opened at the park.

Just in time for summer, Sunset Park in Lake in the Hills has received some upgrades.  A new vaulted, double restroom opened at Sunset Parkon April 26, according to a village of Lake in the Hills press release.  In addition, the park added two bleachers for its softball fields and five Big Belly Solar Powered trash compactors. The solar-powered trash compactors "will reduce staff trips to empty garbage, reduce emissions from the trucks that pick up the garbage and overall are healthier for the environment," according to the news release.  Funded by an Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity grant, the improvements cost just under $100,000, according to the the village of LITH.

i think...a really really nice addition to that park and our area as a whole could be a nice large 'park-house' aka field house. to overlook the 'main' ball fields...football and baseball giving it the 'sky-box' effect without the 'posh' demands, it's name alone..envokes. multi-use indoor facility movie venue? or stage acts comedy club or charitable events...after-school events... indoor...…   more ›

Huntley High Lacrosse All-Star Heading to Benedictine

Tyler Romeiser gets starting position on university's new lacrosse team.

Editor's note: This is an updated story. A previous version contained incorrect information about Huntley High School's Raiders Lacrosse Club and the lacrosse becoming an official school sport. Club officials are working with the school and district on getting lacrosse officially recognized. Tyler Romeiser not only is graduating from Huntley High School in June, he’s graduating from high school lacrosse to college-level, Division 3 lacrosse. Romeiser, 18, recently decided to attend Benedictine University in Lisle, where he’ll be a starter on the school’s new lacrosse team. The Huntley High School senior plans to pursue premed. He received a Merit Scholarship. “I am super-excited,” he said about joining a lacrosse program just getting off…
