The 16-year-old Carpentersville girl now faces a charge of possession or storage of a weapon on school grounds.
A Jacobs High School student charged with possessing a weapon on school grounds had no intentions of harming anyone, police said Wednesday. The 16-year-old Carpentersville girl left the school on May 2 without parent’s permission and was searched when she returned to the school, said Algonquin Deputy Police Chief Steve Kuzynowski. School officials found a pocketknife in her purse. Since the school has a zero-tolerance policy on knives or other weapons on school grounds, police were called and the teen was taken into custody, Kuzynowski said. She was charged with unauthorized possession or storage of a weapon on school grounds, petitioned into juvenile court and then released to the custody of her mother.
