Butch, to your last, not all republicans are log cabin republicans. The ones that aren't are not hypocrites. The ones that are I haven't seen on the forefront of the anti gay movement lately. In any event, the only log cabin I ever really supported was log cabin syrup which went well on the pancakes and french toast I used to enjoy before I noticed the sugar content. Us old geezers have to watch …   more ›

Share Your McHenry County Flood Photos on Patch

How crazy is it out there right now? Please show us! Upload your pictures of flooding from McHenry County towns here.

Over the past 24 hours, 4.95 inches of rain has fallen in Algonquin, according to an update on the National Weather Service this morning. And the rain is not expected to stop anytime soon. The NWS is predicting more showers over the next 24 hours.  What does the scene look like for you? Are there several feet of water outside your home (or, heaven forbid, inside it)? Stranded cars; flooded lawns and streets? If you’re lucky enough not to be too busy dealing with any emergencies right now (and we hope you are), we’d love to see what you see, and our readership likely would as well.  If you have any great snapshots/photographs of the flooding around McHenry County today, please share them with us and with your fellow readers. Please also add…

Wow...change your name to delusional. So you think the guy on the right should say..."whoa buddy...I'm calling the police...you better be worried" Even the police don't agree with you. I'm calling you out, ignorance is not an excuse despite what the liberals are telling you.   more ›

Income Taxes Leave You Feeling Flat?

State legislature may consider whether to move to a graduated income tax rate, meaning those who earn more would pay more.

Did the tax man take a big bite out of your wallet this month? With tax season almost behind us, let's take a look at an issue before the state legislature — should Illinois switch from a flat income tax rate to a graduated rate? The last year Illinoisans escaped paying income tax to the state was 1969. Just seven states still collect no income tax. Thirty-four states use the graduated income tax system, while eight others join Illinois in imposing one rate on all. Our friends at Reboot Illinois put together a graphic look at various aspects of the flat tax vs. graduated tax debate, excerpted here on Patch.  Check out the full graphic at RebootIllinois.com. Patch Comic: Obama Sees Rough Months Ahead

What is it that has the president so pessimistic as spring unfolds? Oh ... that.

Sunday funnies.

Dan Arenov

11:42 am on Monday, April 1, 2013

What is actually comical is that Obama, just today, proclaimed April to be the month to teach youngsters how to budget responsibly. Yes, it does sound like an April Fool's joke, but the joke is on us...ha ha...our share of the national debt has increased over $50,000 per household since Obama has been president. The Democrat led Senate just passed their first budget in 4 years, and guess what? It…   more ›
