Woodstock Man Held on Drug Charges

Bond set at $60,000 for man found carrying 9.5 grams of cocaine, cash.

  A Woodstock man stopped on a traffic violation now faces multiple drug charges, the McHenry Henry County Sheriff’s office reports. Jeremiah B. Pedersen,  29,  842 Queen Anne St., Unit #1A, was stopped near the intersection of Clay Street and Maple Avenue at 3:30 p.m. Thursday for a traffic violation when a K9 picked up the scent of narcotics inside his vehicle, according to reports. A search of the vehicle uncovered 9.5 grams of cocaine along with $1,800 in cash, sheriff’s deputies said. The cocaine was worth about $800, reports stated. Pedersen is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, deputies said. His bond was set at $60,000. Police: LITH Teens Pay Respect at Fatal Crash Site, Nearly Hit by Drunken Driver

The accident happened Sunday night in the 14600 block of Marengo Road west of Huntley.

Two Lake in the Hills teens narrowly missed being hit by a drunken driver last Sunday while lying flowers at a memorial made for Megan E. Hartigan west of Huntley. Hartigan died following a crash on May 1 in the 14600 block of Marengo Road in the township of Coral and the two 19-year-old Lake in the Hills women had returned to that area on May 13 to pay their respects, said Aimee Knop, public information officer for the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. Around 7:10 p.m., the LITH women told police a vehicle went off the road while traveling west along Marengo Road and hit an embankment and a parked car, Knop said. The race will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday.

The inaugural Algonquin Run for Recreation 10-mile race will take place Saturday, May 19, on various streets between Main Street (Illinois Route 31) and Randall Road. Motorists are advised to use extra caution when driving in Algonquin on Saturday. Course marshals will be stationed throughout the course to assist runners and motorists before and during the race. Traffic will be restricted on Jefferson Street, Washington Street and Railroad Street between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Huntington Drive will be closed from Main Street to Circle Drive between 6:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Motorists should use Algonquin Road as the designated detour route. Carolyn Cox Mahoney split from her long-time husband after what she calls years of abuse. Her wealthy ex-husband, Billy Cox, was soon convicted of attempted murder and aggravated domestic battery. He's currently serving a 20-year sentence in Dixon. Last year a judge ordered Carolyn Cox Mahoney to pay back $75,852.76 to her ex-husband or serve 90 days in jail. Cox, 71, was convicted in November 2007 of attempted murder and aggravated domestic battery. He was accused of beating Mahoney in the face with a blunt object and then locking her in a garage with the cars running. According to the divorce settlement, Mahoney was supposed to transfer funds from an IRA account to Cox. In June 2011, Mahoney accused her ex-husband of attempting to hire …
