Candidate ISSUES
1. Why are you running for office?
I’m currently on the board, I’ve been on the board for 10 years and I just want to continue the good work we’ve done. There’s a new director and I feel like it would be nice for her to have some continuity on the board as she moves forward. She just started in December. I want to continue to work to keep the library in good physical shape, which I think has been a strength of our board over the last 10 years. And also because there are a lot of new and interesting technologies that are coming out that are affecting libraries. I think it’s a real interesting time to be involved and help the library involved to meet the needs of the people in our community.
2. What will be your No. 1 priority if elected?
What I said…to keep us in good financial shape as we move forward. We haven’t had to cut services. So I just want to keep us on the good path that we’ve been on.
3. Please list any relevant experience.
I have a lot of experience concerning the library: I’ve been on the board 10 years, I was part of the team that oversaw the building of the new library, I was part of the team that secured funding to keep the old library open as a branch, I’ve managed budgets in addition to the regular library budget, I live and work with children in the community—I’m a teacher—so I see needs for families and young children in our community that I can bring to the board. And I love the library, I love books, I love reading.
