Week Ahead: Halloween Happenings, Free Dental Care Friday for Needy

The week ahead is packed with Halloween events and other happenings.

Happy Monday, Algonquin and Lake in the Hills!

After a weekend full of Halloween parties, trick-or-treating with area merchants (Algonquin Commons' Boo Party was hopping Sunday), picking out pumpkins and putting finishing touches on costumes, the week ahead promises more Halloween!

The Algonquin Area Public Library has several Halloween story hours planned this week for children. On Monday, the library offers Baby Halloween Storytime from 6:30 to 7 p.m. for babies age 23 months and younger. Bring your baby - dressed in Halloween costume - to hear some seasonal stories.

Tuesday's program, Terrific Tales Halloween Storytime, is for kids age 2 and 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Kids are invited to wear costumes, listen to some stories and then parade through the library.

From 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, preschoolers can attend Halloween Storytime dressed in costumes and accompanied by an adult. The Spooky Tales by Lantern Light planned for Tuesday night is marked as full on the library website. More Halloween story hours are planned for Wednesday and Thursday. Click her for more information.

On Thursday - Halloween - the Lake in the Hills Police Department is hosting its 10th Annual Safety Town Trick-or-Treat form 3 to 6 p.m. at the 1109 Crystal Lake Road, Lake in the Hills (next to the Police Department headquarters).

This event is free, and a safe way for kids to collect candy safely.

Once the day devoted to costumes and candy is over, it may be time to see the dentist. Algonquin dentist Tim Stirneman is offering free dental services to people in need on Friday, Nov. 1, at his All Smiles Dental office, 1452 Merchant Dr.

Dr. Tim is opening all 12 of his operating rooms from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will provide free cleanings, fillings and dental extractions to people who cannot afford dental care. Click here for more information.

Have a great week!
