Check Out a Family Friendly Outdoor Movie
Grab a chair and blanket and had out to Indian Trail Beach, 228 Indian Trail in LITH, this evening for the first free outdoor movie of the season. The village will be showing Rango and the movie will start at 8:45 p.m. on Friday.
Crystal Lake will also be featuring an outdoor movie this weekend at Main Beach, 300 Lakeshore Drive in Crystal Lake. The event will kick off at 6 p.m. with activities for the kids and the movie will be shown at dusk.
Get Outdoors: Community Conservation Day
The 10th annual Conservation Community Day event, titled Leave No Child Inside, will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, at the Woods Creek Path between Bunker Hill Drive and Woods Creek Lane in Algonquin.
The family friendly affair is free and open to the public. Nineteen groups have committed to providing displays at the event.
Recycled materials will be available for children to use to make crafts during the event. The crafts include birdfeeders from recycled water bottles, bracelets using duct tape, sun-catcher flowers using construction and tissue paper, and bumblebees out of paper. .
Dog Luau and Pet Adoption Event
The All About Dogs Luau and Pet Adoption Event on Saturday at On Angels’ Wings, 5186 Route 14 in Crystal Lake. Several rescue homes and shelter representatives will have adoptable pets on hand.
Activities, running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., include agility training, treats of all kinds, $5 pet “peddies,” $5 dog baths, $10 pet portraits and free games for adults and their canine companions. Bring along a photograph of your beloved furry friend, and have the image etched on a “human” tag for you to wear.
Father's Day Brunch
Crystal Lake Park District will be hosting a father's day brunch at Park Place, 406 W. Woodstock St. in Crystal Lake, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to the Crystal Lake Park District website. The breakfast/lunch buffett will be catered by Coleman's. Visitors can also relax outdoors and spend time playing bags with their dad. The cost is $19 per adults and $10 per child and pre-resgistration is required. Another Hot Weekend
Temperatures are expected to be in the 90s both Friday and Saturday and while there is some rain predicted Sunday, temperatures could reach a high of 88 degrees. For those hoping to cool off in the water, Patch.com has a list of area beaches and pools and hours of operation .
Check Out an Area Farmer's Market
It is looking to be a beautiful Saturday, which could be a great time to check out an area farmer's market. Huntley, Woodstock, Dundee and Crystal Lake all have farmer's markets open on Saturdays. The village of Cary holds its farmer's market on Sunday. We have a list of farmer's markets posted as well as hours of operation for those markets and what type of vendors the markets draw.
