Founders' Days Parade Set for Saturday

"Wild, Wild West" parade gets rollin' at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013.

The Algonquin Founders' Days Parade is set for 11 a.m. today, Saturday, July 27.

This year's parade, with a "Wild, Wild West" theme, follows the same parade route as past years, but will stop short about 100 feet because of the Huntington Road closure.

A large number of bands and other organizations applied to participate in this year's event, said Alan Kirk, co-chairman of the parade. Algonquin residents should be aware of temporary road closures during the event. Click here for road closures.

Parade Route:

  • The parade begins at the corner of Algonquin and Eastgate roads
  • Continues west on Route 62
  • Turns south on Main Street (Route 31)
  • Ends at Washington Street (seating south of Washington Street is not recommended).
  • At the end of the parade, floats can either continue south on Route 31, turn left on La Fox Street, or turn right on Edgewood Drive.
More information and events schedule is on the Founders' Days Festival webpage.
