Detours, Road Closures for Founders' Days Festival

Motorists should expect delays around Algonquin as the village's Founders' Days Festival kicks off in the coming days. 

The closures will take places mainly during the Founders' Days Parade on July 27 and during the Fireworks Spectacular on Sunday, July 28, according to a village of Algonquin press release. 

Founders' Days Parade

The Founders' Days Parade will be held on July 27 starting at 11 a.m. and the following closures and detours will be in place: 

• The eastbound lanes will be closed on Algonquin Road between Main Street and Eastgate Drive at 10 a.m. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction on Algonquin Road between Main Street and Eastgate Drive. 
• Main Street will be closed between Algonquin Road and Edgewood Drive beginning at 10 a.m. Traffic will be detoured west to Hanson Road. 
• No traffic will be allowed onto northbound sides streets along Main Street, including, LaFox River Drive, Division Street, or Jayne Street except for the residents that live along those streets. 

Founders' Days Fireworks

The following closures and detours should be expected during the Algonquin Founders' Days Fireworks Spectacular on Sunday, July 28, which will start at 9 p.m. at Riverfront Park:

• Harrison Street will be closed between Algonquin Road and Edward Street from 5 to 11 p.m. Parking will not be allowed in that area on July 28. 
• No vehicles or pedestrians will be allowed on the Algonquin Road bridge over the Fox River from 7 to 11 p.m. on July 28. The bridge will be kept open for the flow of pedestrian traffic to Riverfront Park before the fireworks. 
• There will be no pedestrian crossing of Algonquin Road permitted at River Road before, during, or after the fireworks.  
• All pedestrian traffic must cross Algonquin Road at either Harrison Street or Eastgate Drive. 
• Once the fireworks are over, all people wishing to cross the Fox River to go eastbound on Algonquin Road will be required to cross Algonquin Road at Harrison Street to the south side of Algonquin Road and then proceed eastbound.

Shuttle Buses Available for Fireworks Spectacular

Shuttle buses will be available for the Founders' Days Fireworks Spectacular beginning at 7 p.m. There will be a free shuttle bus service for the festival on Friday and Saturday night beginning at 5 p.m. and running 1 hour after the park closes.
