Area Beaches Pass County's Initial Water Sampling Test

There were no reports of increased bacterial levels at any of McHenry County's 35 licensed beaches.

McHenry County Health Department conducted beach water samplings at 35 licensed beaches on Wednesday, May 23.

There were no reports of increased bacterial levels. All beaches planning to open over Memorial Day weekend will be able to do so.

To prevent illness associated with swimming, all licensed beaches on the 13 lakes in McHenry County have water quality tests every two weeks throughout the summer to determine E. coli levels.

Additional and more frequent sampling is done when elevated bacterial levels are found. The department recommends refraining from swimming at least two to three days after heavy rainfall.
