Sky High Volleyball Moving to New Facility

Crystal Lake-based Sky High Volleyball Club is moving to a larger facility.

Sky High Volleyball Club is moving into a new, much larger facility directly across the street from its current home in Crystal Lake.

The Crystal Lake City Council last week approved plans for the new location at 215 Exchange Dr., Suite E. The club plans to move to its new site in December- in time for its 2014 events.

The club is expanding from its current facility with 34,000 square feet to 50,000 square feet at the new site, said Scott Harris, executive director of Sky High. Harris founded the club in 1989 with Sherry Harris.

“We will be moving  (to a new location), which will include eight spacious courts, a non-slip epoxy floor throughout the gym, larger kitchen, concession area with an expanded menu with healthy options and a large conference room, which will double as an eating area during events.”

Harris said the conference room also will provide a large work station for parents or players including many outlets to charge laptops, iPads, phones, and cameras.

“Parents will now have a quiet place available during practices to work or simply relax,” Harris said.

The facility will provide a 3-foot raised platform in the gym for tournament directors during events to answer questions, collect results from officials and post live results on monitors throughout the facility.

The plans call for plenty of seating, larger pro shop, officials and coaches' room, several offices, large restrooms, trainers’ room and expanded weight room with rubber floor.

The office area includes the pro shop, concession area, conference, officials/ coaches and trainer rooms will all be air conditioned.

Sky High will be celebrating their 25th Year Anniversary in 2014.
