Local Teams Square Off in First Round of Playoffs This Weekend

Jacobs High School will take on No. 2-seeded Boylan Catholic in Rockford on Saturday.

Several local high school football teams will square off in the first round of playoffs this Saturday. 

Jacobs High School football team (5-4) will compete against No. 2-seeded Boylan Catholic (9-0) in Rockford at 1 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Illinois High School Association website. 

Huntley High School (6-3) will play No. 7-seeded Fenwick High School (7-2) in Oak Park at 7 p.m. Saturday in Oak Park, according to the IHSA.

No. 1-seeded Cary-Grove High School (9-0) will host Rockford's Auburn High School (5-4), a No. 16 seed, in the first round of the playoffs Saturday in class 6A. The game will kick off at 4 p.m. Saturday in Cary. 

Also in class 6A, Hyde Park Academy High School (6-2) will travel to Crystal Lake Central High School (7-2) Saturday. Hyde Park, a No. 13 seed, will square off against Crystal Lake Central, a No. 4 seed, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Crystal Lake South High School (6-3) will travel to Lake Zurich (7-2) Saturday. The No. 11th seed South Gators, in the playoffs for their 11th consecutive year, will face Lake Zurich, No. 6 seed, starting at 2 p.m. Saturday in the class 7A round 1 playoffs.

Winners of each game will advance to the second round of the playoffs.
