Gators' Hockey Wins Against Tigers Friday

The Crystal Lake South varsity hockey team will play Sunday at 5:10 p.m in Rolling Meadows.

The Crystal Lake South Gators took advantage of a quick start to defeat the CCM Tigers 7-2. 

The victory improved the South's Metro Central leading record to 6-0 (14-5 overall). 

The Gators scored 4 first period goals in the first 7.5 minutes of the game.  Jamie Stortz got the Gators rolling when he took a pass from Austin Wiggerman and slid the puck past the CCM goaltender.

One minute later Jake Bigos scored to make the score 2-0.  Later in the period Wiggerman scored to make the score 3-0 and less than 1 minute later Max Rudolph scored his first varsity goal to make the score 4-0. 

South picked up where they left off in the first scoring 3 times in 1:17. Stortz, Joey Bower and Wiggerman all tallied in the 3rd to give the Gators a 7-0 lead.

CCM got on the board twice midway through the period on goals from Kyle Hawley and Anthony Casaletto. CCM picked up the pace late in the second period and the Gators had to rely on the solid goaltending of Adam Wiese to pull them through the later half of the 2nd and 3rd periods. 

Ryan Maloney kept the score close for CCM, turning away 28 Gator shots. 

South is back in action Sunday afternoon when they travel to West Meadows Ice Arena (Rolling Meadows) to take on Conant High School. Gametime is 5:1
