Football: USA Today Ranks Local High School Football Teams

USA Today ranked Jacobs High School 72nd in the state and Cary-Grove High School received a rank of 7th in the state.

USA Today has released their national rankings of high school football teams for the 2013 season, and of the 579 teams in Illinois, Jacobs High School ranked 72nd.

In the list, Jacobs defense is ranked 106th and its offense is ranked 44th in the state. Nationally, the school received rank of 1,400.

Cary-Grove High School received the highest ranking among local schools. The team ranked 7th in the state, according to USA Today, with its defense ranked in 12th and the team's offense ranked 10th. 

Nationally, Cary-Grove is ranked 185th, according to USA Today.

Locally, Marian Central Catholic High School also fared well ranking 16th in the state, according to USA Today. The team's defense was ranked 29th in the state and its offense ranked 15th in the state. 

Here is how USA Today ranked other local teams:  Huntley High School was ranked 70th in the state and Crystal Lake South High School was ranked 51st in the state.

The top five Illinois teams according to the ranking are: No. 1 Mt. Carmel, Chicago; No. 2 Loyola Academy, Wilmette; No. 3 Lincoln-Way East, Frankfort; No. 4 Glenbard West and No. 5 Neuqua Valley, Naperville.
