CL South Hockey's Connor Hudak Named to All-State Team

Crystal Lake South Hockey's Connor Hudak has been named to the Illinois High School All-State team.

Crystal Lake South Hockey defenseman Connor Hudak has been named to the Illinois High School All-State Team for the 2013-2014 season.

Hudak is one of only 12 defensemen from the Illinois High School Hockey League selected to participate in the All-State game scheduled for 8:35 p.m. Feb. 3, at AHAI Hockey Center at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville.

High school varsity hockey coaches from throughout the state select the top 40 players to participate in the annual All-State game. Scouts and representatives from college and junior teams attend the game in search of new players.

Hudak is senior at Crystal Lake South and has skated with the Gators all four years of his high school hockey career, three of those on the club's varsity team.

"Connor has never backed down from anyone, or any situation and served as the team’s alternate captain as a junior and co-captain this season," Varsity Coach Rich Perillo said.

Hudak was selected to the Junior Varsity All-Conference team as a freshman and the Varsity All-Conference team as a junior and senior. He also was selected to try out for Showcase as a junior.

As of this past Friday, the defenseman had 24 career goals, 73 assists and 97 points making him the all-time leading scorer among Gator defensemen.

For the past 24 years, the Amateur Hockey Association Illinois has been conducting high school All-State games for varsity divisions statewide.
