In honor of Small Business Saturday tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 30, Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Patch is featuring local businesses.

By supporting small local businesses, you support everything that's great about our communities. And the best part is: money that's spent here, stays here.

So, tomorrow, (and the rest of the holiday season), don't forget to "Get Out and Shop Small."

New Clique

128 Randall Rd., Algonquin
Opened September 2013

New Clique opened just two months ago.

It started out as a novelty store for teens, but owners Janine and Paul Steffans quickly discovered their fun, trendy and unique products appeal to all ages.

"We get a lot of older people shopping here," Janine Steffans said.

The store specializes in humorous T-shirts, posters, signs, jewelry, accessories "with an attitude," makeup, and hair and cellphone accessories.

Big sellers include life-sized cardboard cutouts of One Direction band members and characters from AMC's Walking Dead television series.

The couple, who knew they wanted to open their own business, was looking for something unique when considering options.

"We were looking for a concept, and we just wanted to have something fun," Janine said.

Since opening, New Clique has also found a niche in printing digital custom-designed T-shirts. Customers can visit the store's e-commerce site at www.new-clique.com, design their own T-shirt and then pick it up at the store.

T-shirts run about $19.99 and custom-designed hooded sweat shirts run about $30 to $35.

New Clique is located at 128 Randall Rd. in front of Caputo's grocery store. The store hours are Noon to 7 p.m. Mondays; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Fridays; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.
