Volunteers Gather to Donate School Supplies to Needy Students

Thanks to the community's generosity, 50 students in District 300 have new school supplies.

Hearts of Gold of Algonquin recently distributed bags of much needed school supplies to 50 students in kindergarten through eighth-grade in Community Unit School District 300 in Carpentersville to help less fortunate students prepare for the new school year, reported the Northwest Herald.

Over the weekend, volunteers gathered at the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District headquarters to pack more than $800 worth of supplies including notebooks, pencils and folders into backpacks donated by Costco, according to the story.

Funds for the charity's "Tools for School" project were donated by the community. Hearts of Gold also organizes a holiday donation drive. For more information, or to make a donation, visit www.heartsofgold-il.org.
