STUFF THE BUS for Homeless Students!

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 16, a District 300 bus will be parked in the Walmart parking lot, 1410 S. Randall Road, Algonquin.

Families, staff members and community members are encouraged to help STUFF THE BUS for homeless students!

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 16, a District 300 bus will be parked in the parking lot of Walmart, 1410 S. Randall Road, Algonquin. 

Volunteers from the district will be collecting donations of supplies to help the more than 250 homeless students in District 300 get off to a good start for the 2011-12 school year.

Needed items include:

  • folders
  • notebooks
  • loose-leaf filler
  • paper
  • pencils, pens
  • scissors
  • glue sticks
  • rulers
  • crayons
  • gender-neutral backpacks

If you are not available on July 16, you may consider writing a check to CUSD300 (memo line “SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR HOMELESS”) and mailing it to D300 Education Services, 300 Cleveland Ave., Carpentersville, IL 60110.

A stuffed backpack costs about $23. Supply donations also may be dropped off anytime at the front desk of the D300 Central Office, 300 Cleveland Ave., Carpentersville, IL 60110.
