Stop Work Order from City to District 155 for CL South Bleachers

City's stop-work order sent to Community High School District 155 regarding new bleachers at Crystal Lake South High School.

The City of Crystal Lake and Community High School District 155are at odds regarding ongoing construction of the new $1.18 million bleachers at Crystal Lake South High School.

The city has requested school officials present their plans for the project and proceed through the normal application and review process needed for zoning variances, storm sewer permits and a height variation request for the size of the new stands.

Community High School District 155 officials maintain they obtained the necessary permit to install new bleachers and move the Home stands to the opposite side of the football field from the Regional Superintendent of Schools Office for McHenry County.

The west side of the field is adjacent to houses on Amberwood Drive, and residents closest to the new 51-foot-tall structure object to its size, appearance, and potential safety concerns.

The attached document is the stop-work order that was hand-delivered and e-mailed from the city to District 155 Superintendent Johnnie Thomas, according to city officials.
