Gov. Quinn Signs New Education Law

The Associated Press reports the new law will make it more difficult for teachers to strike and easier for districts to fire educators.

A new law signed by Gov. Pat Quinn on Monday will give school districts more power to fire teachers and makes it harder for Illinois teachers to strike, according to The Associated Press.

District 300 Superintendent Michael Bregy told the Northwest Herald the new law, which largely had the support of unions and advocacy groups, was a step in the right direction because of the collaboration involved.

The Chicago Tribune reports the education reform also would change the way teachers earn tenure.
