Whiz Kid’s Accomplishment: Christopher scored a perfect 36 composite score on the 2010 ACT exam.

Nationally the number of students earning a 36 varies each year, but  only one-tenth of one percent receives a top score. Among 2009 high school test takers, only 638 of the nearly 1.5 million students earned a composite score of 36, according to District 158.

The ACT is a standardized test for high school achievement and college admissions for English, mathematics, reading and science. The test is scored on a scale of 1-36, and a student’s composite score is the average of the four test scores. In 2010, the average ACT composite score for Illinois test takers was 20.7.
